In this special edition of T-Time Tuesdays, Tiffany is joined by co-host Maki Gingoyon to celebrate the 6th anniversary of our podcast!
In this episode, Tiffany and Maki look back on the previous years of running the podcast, sharing stories, experiences, and meaningful conversations with guests and listeners from around the world.
The conversation begins with the usuals, what's the best things that have happened to them lately as well as positive news from the LGBTQ+ community. Through Tiffany’s experience attending a university diversity forum, they reflect on the impact of tangible LGBTQ+ visibility and the importance of support from allies.
The conversation then expands to positive developments for the LGBTQ+ community in South Korea, including the approval of the Byun Hee-soo Foundation, an organization working to protect and advance the rights of transgender people. They also reflect on some of the deeply rooted religious and traditional attitudes that continue to affect transgender people in South Korean society.
Finally, Tiffany asks Maki what T-Time Tuesdays has meant to her and what she has learned through being part of the show. Together, they reflect on what the podcast means not only to themselves, but also to the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.
Throughout the episode, Tiffany and Maki celebrate the changes that are happening while recognizing the changes that are still needed.
