The Chicks Talking Footy crew teamed up with the boys from GAYFL to host the AFLW Pride game between Western Bulldogs and Essendon at Whitten Oval.
Every Pride Round, one object ends up in every player’s hands: the football itself. This year, the 2026 AFLW Pride Sherrin carries a design that moves colour across the ball like a journey, with words like love, authentic and unapologetic woven through it.
Aleisha Newman is the artist behind it and knows this game from the inside. She is a proud Ningy Ningy woman from Queensland, an inaugural AFLW player who debuted in 2017, a Goal of the Year winner, and a member of the AFL Players Association’s Indigenous Advisory Board. She played ten seasons and 67 games across Melbourne, Collingwood, Sydney and GWS, designed Indigenous Round jumpers at 2 of those clubs, and retired last year.
