Ep. 320: Miriam Katz on Interviewing Every Ex She's Ever Had | The Ex Appeal Podcast

What happens when you track down every person you've ever kissed, dated, or hooked up with and ask them what really happened? Zach sits down with comedic actor, writer, and fellow podcaster Miriam Katz, the creator of The Ex Appeal Podcast. Her show is built around exactly that premise, and it caught the attention of The View and the New York Post.

Miriam's list runs to 112 people. So far she's interviewed about 20 of them, from her fifth-grade first date in Boston (she asked him out on the swings) to a six-year entanglement she calls "Mr. Mayhem." She shares how she finds exes and asks them to take part, why so many choose to stay anonymous, and what it's like when a conversation she expected to be light turns painful. There's also the ex she hadn't spoken to in years. Each of them had assumed the other held a grudge, and that conversation became one of her favorite episodes.

The stories get wild along the way: dating an Orthodox rabbi at 19, a steamy night with a stripper in Montreal, a 20-year-old who credits her with his sex-positive outlook, and an ex who realized through her that he was attracted to men. Zach shares some stories of his own, including a Brady Bunch–inspired fifth-grade romance, explaining "top and bottom" to his 76-year-old mom, and a friend breakup he'd love to revisit on the mic.
