We're celebrating the release of Jan Balakian, my friend and colleague's debut novella "The Twilight Swim"! It's an excellent summer read and is just in time for all of the current discussion about Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" since Jan was inspired by epic tales like "The Odyssey" when crafting her narrative. The story centers on an aunt and her niece deciding to swim across the Hudson River from Fort Lee to Manhattan, and along the way they encounter mythical beings and learn major life lessons!
It was also so wonderful to be joined with Jan's childhood friend and illustrator of her novella, Robin Lehovitis!
