While many songs are about timeless themes such as love, other songs can be very specific to the time and place where they were created. Like other artists, songwriters and musicians respond to what is happening around them – they hear the news and respond to current events. In the Seventies, this meant there were plenty of songs written about peace, social change and political resistance.
