The Creation of Chicano Cinema

In this week's episode, Mala reports on her experience at the premiere of American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez. Famously known as the father of Chicano cinema, Valdez gave Edward James Olmos, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Esai Morales their start. The story of Valdez is finally getting the documentary treatment it deserves.

This episode, we're taking you inside the Sundance-winning documentary. Mala interviews the people who lived Valdez's legacy, like Dolores Huerta, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Esai Morales. She also talks to Eduardo Arenas of Chicano Batman who scored the film, producer Everett Katigbak, and Director David Alvarado.
