Appointed to the Equality portfolio in August 2026. He steps into the role with extensive senior cabinet experience across several portfolios, serving as the State Member for Oakleigh since 2014.

He will be driving Victoria’s LGBTIQ+ Strategy, funding community-led health and peer support initiatives, and upholding anti-discrimination and conversion therapy ban protections.

Holds the Sport and WorkSafe/TAC portfolios alongside Equality, providing opportunities to address inclusion, anti-vilification, and mental health in sports and workplaces.

Former Mayor and Councillor for the City of Monash before entering state parliament, with a focus on public infrastructure, community services, and inclusion.

Breaking Announcement (Sat 29 Aug 2026): Minister Dimopoulos has just announced a fresh round of LGBTIQA+ Organisational Development Grants delivering up to $40,000 each to 13 community organisations across Victoria.
