Episode 96 - A Very Autumnal Episode (Intervention)

Buffy heads to the desert in search of answers, while back in Sunnydale, everyone gets a very unexpected introduction to...Buffy. Well, sort of.

This week we’re talking Season 5, Episode 18, “Intervention,” where Buffy goes on a vision quest, Spike gets way too comfortable with his custom-made Buffybot, the Scoobies stage the world’s most awkward intervention, and Glory decides to find out just how much pain a vampire can take.

We break down Buffybot’s hilarious HUD observations, Tara’s perfectly timed “Are you kidding? She’s nuts,” Spike’s ramen-noodle hair, Giles’ magical desert gourd routine, and the surprisingly emotional turn the episode takes when Spike refuses to give up Dawn’s secret.

Plus, we officially launch our Season 5 contest: I Was Made to HUD You! Create your own Buffybot-style heads-up display for a Season 5 character (or even Sean or Melanie) and make it as detailed, ridiculous, and funny as possible. Entries are due by midnight on November 15, 2026, and we’ve got some pretty fabulous Buffy-themed prizes waiting for the winners.

And somewhere along the way, Melanie attempts to decode what exactly “Death is your gift” is supposed to mean.

Grab your magic gourd, activate your special programs, and join us for “Intervention.”
