Queer Working Lives: Behind the Uniform
From the makers of the award-winning podcast What, That Old Queen?!
In this three-part podcast series, Tom Marshman and Bernie Hodges explore the experiences of LGBTQ+ people who served in the British Armed Forces, uncovering personal stories of identity, belonging, discrimination and resilience. Through intimate conversations with former service personnel, the series asks what it means to wear a uniform, what we conceal beneath it, and what happens when the institution you serve refuses to accept who you are.
Queer Working Lives was made possible with the support of all the project partners, Hartlepool Museum, Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, RAF Museum, West Sussex Fire Service, Marlborough Productions and at Portsmouth Navy Museum. It would not have been possible without generous funding from the Arts Council and National Lottery Community Project Fund.
